1. Electrical Conductivity (EC)

• Why it matters: High salt content can burn plant roots.

• Good quality:

  • Low EC coco peat: ≤ 0.5 mS/cm (best for horticulture)

  • Medium EC: 0.6–1.0 mS/cm

• How to check: EC meter after soaking coco peat in clean water.

Washed & buffered coco peat is always recommended.

2. Testing pH Value

• Ideal range: 5.5 – 6.5

• Suitable for most plants, vegetables, flowers, and hydroponics.

3. Expansion Ratio

• Indicates how much volume you get after hydration.

• Standard quality:

  • 5 kg block → 70–75 liters

• Low expansion = poor processing or excessive dust.
