Buffering Coco peat Process

1. Washing:

1. • Raw coco peat is soaked and flushed with fresh water to remove excess salts.
   • Electrical conductivity (EC) levels are monitored to ensure salts are adequately reduced.

2. Buffering:

1. • Coco peat is treated with a calcium nitrate (Ca(NO₃)₂) solution or similar buffering agents.
   • The calcium displaces sodium and potassium ions from the cation exchange sites.
   • The displaced salts are washed out with water.

3. Drying:

• • After treatment, the coco peat is dried to reduce moisture content for packaging and transport.

NOTICE WHEN USING COCO PEAT FOR CANNABIS

• Hydration: Coco peat usually comes in a dehydrated block or bag. Before use, it needs to be rehydrated with water. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper rehydration.
• Nutrient supplementation: While coco peat provides a good base, it lacks some essential nutrients. You’ll need to supplement with a nutrient solution suitable for cannabis cultivation. Coco-specific nutrient formulations are available and are designed to work well with the properties of coco coir.
• pH monitoring: Regularly monitor and adjust the pH of your nutrient solution. Coco peat has a buffering capacity, but it’s still important to keep the pH in the optimal range for cannabis growth.
